Maryann F. Gomez
Director of Operations
Maryann Gomez is responsible for all patient services, day-to-day operations, managed care development and information systems for Atlantic Neurosurgical Specialists.
Ms. Gomez has over 34 years of extensive healthcare management experience which she brings to ANS. Her experience ranges from defining a healthcare practice's internal and external markets, to examining the packaging of the practice services, physical plant, policies and procedures. She has had the opportunity to consult on numerous projects and facilitate the development of large practices in both New York and New Jersey.
Over the many years she has been with ANS, she has helped to move the practice from their previous office in Chatham to a new state-of-the-art facility in Morristown. Her main focus remains practice development and healthcare insurance. She has developed multiple business relationships that have helped to untangle the myriad of problems associated with coverage for brain and spine surgery. Her knowledge and understanding of medical insurance has played an important role in helping patients to better prepare for the financial uncertainties of treatment.
Previously, she was Director of Operations for Medical Associates of New Brunswick and was on the forefront of development for one of the first Management Services organizations in the state. She is a member of the Professional Association of Healthcare Office Managers, Medical Group Management Association, the Medical Society of New Jersey, AANS management group (nerves) and the American Academy of Medical Management. In 1995 she was honored nationally as Practice Administrator of the year.
She is named in the Cambridge Publication of Who's Who in Business and has worked diligently to create a step-by-step practice management manual for physicians in private practice.
Thomas J. Wood, BS RT CIT
Director of Marketing / Outreach / Education
Thomas Wood is responsible for many aspects of the practice within the marketing and business development sector as well as acting as a liaison between our group and the many hospitals, doctors and patients we serve on a daily basis. His main focus is within the endovascular division of ANS but he also works within the other specialties to assure we keep our treatment of our patients and service to our referring centers at the highest level. He has an extensive background of over 22 years within the healthcare industry bringing his experience of direct patient care, marketing, and sales to the practice which adds to the already established expertise of the entire ANS family.
Tom is always available to work with our healthcare partners ensuring education and processes are in place and ongoing. He also ensures that each referring doctor is kept informed of the progress of their patient while in the care of ANS. He has a strong passion for stroke awareness and education and works very closely with all our affiliated hospitals stroke teams to make sure stroke care at those facilities are kept at the highest levels.
Prior to joining ANS in July 2009 he spent 10 years as the Coordinator of Interventional and Neuro- Interventional Radiology at Overlook Hospital in Summit New Jersey. He is a registered and licensed Radiological Technologist with advanced board certification in Interventional radiology and Neuro- Interventional radiology. He also holds an advanced degree in Marketing and Business management.
